My thoughts haven't really changed though. I'm now on the Lamarcus Aldrige and Demarcus Cousins in a trade bandwagon. Would still love Drum though.

Re: The Most Insane Cavs Trade I like; Andre Drummond

I love stuff like this, Hayden. I'm curious about whether you still do this trade if the Cavs end up with the #1 pick in the draft. Would you rather Nerlens Noel (or Otto Porter or anyone else you think would be the pick) and Varejao or Drummond?

Re: Dwight Howard to the Clippers?

Your Roster Is Impossible. If Grant Hill retires which seems likely that leaves the Clippers with 44 million dollars for next season spent on DeAndre Jordan, Caron Butler, Blake Griffin, Jamal Crawford, Eric Bledsoe and Willie Green. That leaves 18 million and they still need to resign Barnes, Billups, Odom and most importantly Chris Paul. Getting Dwight as well is impossible without a big trade or players taking considerably less money. Something like trading DeAndre Jordan AND Caron Butler might work.

Re: Three MLB Pet Peeves

1 and 3 are minor annoyances, although I do agree with you. 2 though, is huge, and I'm totally on your side. This applies to all professional sports, but mostly baseball, where there is no clock, so there is always an unlimited amount of time to come back from whatever deficit a team finds themselves in. Ask the 2001 Mariners who in their MLB record 116 win season, could have had 117 if they hadn't let the Indians come back down 14-2 in the 6th inning.

But mainly your point that if they don't like it, stop them, is what I agree with. You're a professional athlete, this is your job. If you don't like that someone is running up the score on you, do something about it. Stop them, don't whine to the press about it afterwards, or talk about some bs "unwritten rule".

Re: Face of the Franchise – A.L. I didn't really think about Eck as the face of the As, although I guess I should have given him more consideration. I think he got wiped out on two fronts: one- his Oakland days connect him with McGwire, Canseco, and LaRussa, and also he'll always be a Red Sox to me.

Re: Face of the Franchise – A.L. Not sure why, but the "anything is possible" howl fest after winning the championship comes close to the mark, But that being said, I agree with your assessment about the mark of the Pierce/Garnett led Celts. It's part of what keeps you rooting for this team even when you know they've got no chance of winning it all. Obviously, Doc is another reason this team is so watchable. He and Pop are the top two coaches in the league, with Phil gone, and I could watch their teams play anytime.

Re: NBA Team Buyer’s Guide

Great insight hard to find that nowadays in regards to the NBA.

Re: My Two Cents on Jimmy Haslam, Byron Scott and Ubaldo Jimenez

I think it would have made a difference if Irving didn't admit earlier in the year that he didn't feel like playing and was going through the motions in one game and then his effort at times was questionable.

Re: My Two Cents on Jimmy Haslam, Byron Scott and Ubaldo Jimenez

Not knowing the ins and outs of the Cavs franchise, I was surprised at the Scott firing, Ryan. Figured that having a former guard who knows what winning feels like was the right setup when you're developing Waiters and Irving. Most Boston fans give Doc Rivers a ton of credit for Rondo's development.

Re: The Houston Astros are Picking Up Where They Left Off

Thanks Ebby. I totally agree it is early to making judgments about teams, but that is what is fun to me. Halfway through the season I can look at this article and see how Houston has improved with experience or how they have regressed. Thanks for the feedback. Always appreciated.

Re: Losing Lackey

Boston can afford to absorb Lackey's $82.5M contract much like the Yankees did with Carl Pavano, A.J. In hindsight, I'm glad the Indians didn't sign this bust.

Re: The Houston Astros are Picking Up Where They Left Off

As much as Hayden showed in his article, it's a little early to be chastising the Astros after 8 games. Are they bad? Yeah. Are the really, really bad? Absolutely.

Houston won 55 games in 2012 in a very weak, top heavy division last year. Similarly, the Indians only won 68 games in their top-heavy division. Moving the Astros to the AL West does the franchise no favors considering the current rosters of their competitors but they are also one of the youngest teams in MLB. Texas will go through a rebuild here soon and that division will be a two team race. They will have a chance to compete but you're probably correct on your assumption that it won't happen until 2015.

Good stuff, Mark. I like the passion.

Re: Stop Judging the Indians

The fact that this fan base goes haywire after eight games only highlights their irrational thought process. Think about how über excited everyone was after starting 2-0. It's what we do as fans: overanalyze and hypercritical.

No one wants to mention the fact that we caught New York at the "wrong" time. NY had lost 2 of 3 vs BOS and @ DET to start the season. Or, like in 2011 when a Francona-led Boston team started 2-10 (including a 3-games sweep at the hands of the Indians) then went on a 9-3 run. Baseball is cyclical. It's a marathon sports fans, not a sprint. Talk to me at the All Star Break.

Nice piece, Hayden.

Re: Making Changes to College Basketball

No way. I want it to be the two who tie it up. I think that is the only way to do it. I got killed on Boston by many other people, but I had to write what I believe. In my defense, I had to talk myself out of Williams, because he was my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choices, initially. I agree on Crawford, but alas, he chased the money. Steib was in the running for the Jays, and Carter was my initial thought, but in the end, it had to be Olerud for me. The batting helmet while playing first base is seared in to my memory banks.

Re: The East, The Commish, The Lakers, and The Tiger

When David Stern leaves office (assuming his replacement doesn't use his playbook) is when I'll be able to take the NBA quasi-seriously again. It's definitely Cal, but then it gets murky. I think Jim Palmer and Earl Weaver deserve spots above Boog (although maybe his food is just that good).

Boston = Ted Williams. Just stop.

Yankees = Babe Ruth

Rays = Dick Vitale. And I realize just how sad that is. Would be Carl Crawford if he'd stuck around. Wade Boggs for kissing home plate on his 3000th? I don't know. Maddon seems like an acceptable choice.

Jays = Dave Steib. I'm not sure if that's an objective choice, or if it simply has to do with the era I lived through. My guess is that most people would say Joe Carter because of the homer.
